SALUTE / Tribute to VOLUME I (INSTRUMENTAL) Prequel

 In 2001 , I was still the director of an international record company in Hong Kong . Faced with the deteriorating global economy and the sluggish consumer sentiment , consumers were affected by the uncertain economic outlook , and personal entertainment consumption was always the first to be affected . Coupled with the rise of social Internet , intellectual property products such as music and movies were illegally downloaded and forwarded indefinitely around the world , which caused huge losses to content owners such as record companies at the time . At that time, in order to make up for the estimated marketing losses, major record companies made full use of their old tracks to select hundreds of popular Chinese and Western singles in the past and re-released them in the form of a compilation . Although this method brought ideal additional income to the overall income , it would eventually consume the old tracks . Therefore , in order to avoid this situation from happening early but to ensure that the company's products can continue to innovate and the financial situation can develop healthily , I decided to take out a project that I had hidden in my heart for many years to see if I could take a different approach to create a product that would be accepted by local fans who love alternative music products .

To ensure that this album does not require the operation of traditional record companies , I deliberately cooperated with an independent music production company in Hong Kong, EzMood Records , and boldly hired two good friends I have known for many years , one is the well-known record producer in Hong Kong, Mr. Zhong Dingyi, as the production director , and the other is a very outstanding native Filipino pianist Roel Garcia , who has appeared in many films directed by Wong Kar-wai , such as " Chungking Express ", " Ashes of Time " and " Fallen Angels " as the music producer . The concept of the whole album is to select only ten Cantonese songs that have been popular in the past 25 years , such as " Ripples ", " Every Time Changes ", " What Do You Want in Life " and " With Love " and other famous songs, and re-arrange them in the style of Contemporary Jazz . In addition to the local and overseas relationships I have established over the years , I also invited many local and foreign top musicians of different nationalities to cooperate . Finally, in 2003 , we worked together to produce a pure Cantonese pop song but arranged into a pure music CD with jazz music, which was unprecedented and released in the same year . Looking back at the total sales of this album that year, it really surprised many colleagues .

Almost 21 years have passed since this album was born . Who would have thought that it would meet another " mentor "? A music production company based in Korea called "Machang Music & Pictures" thought that this album was worth giving it a chance to be reborn , and would meet everyone again in the form of a vinyl record !
