Minamata is a 2020 American drama film adapted from the novel of the same name, directed by Andrew Levitas, and produced and starred by Johnny Depp. It tells the story of a war photographer who travels to Minamata, Kagoshima, Japan, to document the devastating consequences of a mercury leak on a coastal community.

Minamata 's original film score is composed by internationally renowned musician Ryuichi Sakamoto.
