"Infernal Affairs" was born during the downturn of Hong Kong films in the early 2000s. It won the audience's reputation with its compact plot and innovative narrative style, and created a box office revenue of 55 million Hong Kong dollars, becoming the annual box office champion, representing a peak in Hong Kong film creation. "Infernal Affairs" has been remade many times at home and abroad, including Martin Scorsese's 2006 American version " The Departed ", which won four awards including the Oscar for Best Picture. Both China and Japan have remade it into a TV series. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the release of "Infernal Affairs", a special global limited edition 3CD set of the original soundtracks of the "Infernal Affairs" trilogy is released.
It was composed by Hong Kong's famous film composer Chan Kwong-wing, performed by the Asia Philharmonic Orchestra and the Nicolaus Esterhazy Orchestra, and sung by the Asia Philharmonic Chorus and the Hungarian Choir.
"Infernal Affairs" is a successful example of the perfect combination of light, shadow and music. In line with the compact plot, each note is closely linked to the advancement of the plot, driving the audience's emotions, creating a tense atmosphere and enhancing the dramatic effect. In the first act, a drug deal, the struggle between good and evil is perfectly demonstrated. In addition to the plot and images, music also plays an important role in certain scenes. Tsai Chin's song " Forgotten Time " connects two protagonists with different destinies. For example, in the scene where Mr. Huang was thrown off a building and died, Feng Xiyu sang the interlude " Goodbye - Police " and expressed sorrow for Mr. Huang's death like the sound of nature. When fans recall this scene, this piece of music often comes to mind at the same time.
