"Santana" is the third studio album by the American rock band Santana, released in 1971. It is often referred to as "Santana III" to distinguish it from the debut album of the same name released in 1969. The album is considered the creative and commercial pinnacle of their career. Produced by the original lineup that performed at the Woodstock concert, it added percussionist Coke Escovedo and guitarist Neal Schon, who was only 17 years old at the time, for the first time, creating a darker and more original rock music. In addition to topping the US Billboard 200 and Canadian Albums Chart, this album entered the top ten of the album charts in seven countries including the UK, Australia, Germany, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands and Japan. In the United States, its sales reached RIAA Double Platinum sales.
