Prune Deer - Insufficient Postage (CD)

Prune Deer is a Hong Kong math rock/post-rock band formed in early spring 2013. After the departure of the lead singer, the band joined with a new guitarist and changed its musical style to math rock and post-rock. The music has a slightly dreamy feel, the melody is sometimes gentle, the rhythm is sometimes passionate, and the constantly changing beats and paragraphs run through the music.

The current members are: Kun Cheng (drums), Zi Ran (guitar), Cheng Feng (guitar) and Jia Hao Jimmy Ling (bass guitar)

The albums "Solid and Transparent", "Chemistry" and "Insufficient Postage" were released in 2015, 2018 and 2019 respectively. Active in Asia including China, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan, he has performed at major music festivals such as wow and flutter, Clockenflap, Wake Up Festival and Behemoth Rock.

The concept of Huameilu’s new EP “Insufficient Postage EP” is inspired by a true story - in 2018, a Seattle ground crew member secretly flew a plane which crashed because of his longing for the sky. This EP's packaging design, song titles, and music all use many aviation-related elements, using a nostalgic approach to piece together the story through different objects. It can be concluded that life always involves different choices, and countless forks in the road give rise to countless possibilities. Although the end of the journey was not what we expected, the scenery along the way was still beautiful.

Different from the presentation of previous works, the art and sound of "Insufficient Postage" tend to be simple. Whether it is wearing retro-style clothing, traditional scenery imitating film, or even Lofi color images, it tells the beautiful memories sealed in the years and brings out the unique Hong Kong-style romance of Meilu.

Huameilu invited different musicians to participate in the works: "Return Letter" was written and sung by Japanese rap musician Haru Nemuri; another psychedelic and beautiful song "Air Mail" was performed by Ashley, the lead singer of the well-known Hong Kong band Little Red Riding Hood who is currently on hiatus. The whole song presents a playful and new side of Huameilu.
