Band Profile
FIESTER was founded in 2011. The band's name is a homophone of "fiesta", which originally means that the band hopes to make people happy and bring them happy music, just like being in a festive ceremony, feeling the lively and cheerful music, and leaving the troubles of life behind. In 2015, the band added metal and electronic core elements to its music style, using fast and fierce music to vent the confusion and frustration encountered in growing up. In 2019, the addition of a new lead singer brought a different musical style and brought more different images of the band members to the fans.
When we were young, we all believed in fairy tales and their happy endings, and believed that happiness was that simple; when we grew up, we discovered that reality is not perfect and that human nature also has a dark side. In order to continue the pure joy of childhood, FIESTER hopes that more robots who have not yet awakened can be accompanied and impacted by music through music creation, and have the opportunity to become passionate souls and feel my passionate life. Everything in the world is passive, except the interaction between people. The value of things should be determined by our free will. Therefore, FESTER redefines the value of life through music and determines the value of things in the world with our will .
Every fragment is an integral part of us. Together with music fans, we pick up the scattered puzzle pieces of life, package ourselves in front of others, restrain ourselves in society, hesitate in love, and fight numbly in the workplace. All areas of life have already torn our selves apart and broken them into pieces scattered on the ground. It still takes some effort to reassemble them. Hong Kong girl band FIESTER presents different aspects of the self in life through five songs of different styles. They connect all the scattered dots into a traceable line through rock music, and together with their fans, they once again feel the integrity of "us" as the subject in this fragmented society that makes people lost.
Society divides the self and shakes the body to regain autonomy. Schizophrenia is a disease of contemporary people. We always have to put on different faces to deal with different people and things. After a long time, we will no longer remember what kind of person we are when each face is put together. Sometimes I doubt that our various disconnected ways of treating others and doing things in love, work, social and other relationships have cut our lives into different parts, like unrelated plates. FIESTER's newly released EP "FRAGMENTS" describes a fragmented life. Once different life fields are given different names, we will be required to split into different identities to meet the demands of these relationships. We think that "life" is to live for these "relationships" and live in such a fragmented way.
The five songs in "FRAGMENTS" are the band's response to fragmented life: "Autumn Goes and Winter Comes" responds to people's packaging in society, "Wandering" tells the twists and turns and confusion in love, and "VARIOUS" rejects a single body and soul.
"Before We Fade Away" hopes to break through the fog and embrace the best hope in the worst time, while "Evening" uses a light melody to denounce the numbness of working day after day like a reincarnation. They incorporate their own lyrics into powerful rock music, and their straightforward accusations, cries and expectations are all presented through the band's melody, rhythm and powerful lead vocals. "Don't try to deceive the heavens/Everything is calm", "It's the emptiness caused by the loss of hope", "Maybe mediocrity is still mighty/Everyone deserves the world's respect", "The terrible thing disappears with the day", "Keep your true self/Until I see the next daylight", if you listen carefully to the lyrics, you may find that these works that seem to have different themes are actually echoing FIESTER's attitude towards life.
Each variation has a different style and echoes each other
The EP has five songs, and in addition to the heavy rock style that FIESTER has always been good at, each song has a different variation, adding layers to the theme of "broken". "Autumn Goes, Winter Comes" and "Before We Fade Away" mix electronic music with melody, bringing out a different kind of strong poetry; "VARIOUS" emphasizes heavy metal elements, with strong bass and beats combined with tearing singing voice performed by girls, which is more fresh; "Wandering" echoes the love story, dominated by relatively lyrical pop rock; "Evening" opens with light rock, combined with hip-hop rap elements, with a bit of straightforwardness, attitude and personality. These five songs present different aspects of FESTER. In addition to telling fans about their plasticity, they also emphasize their life experiences.
Five songs, five aspects of life, were digested and reshaped by the six girls of FIESTER, and finally condensed into an EP within half an hour through the process of composition, lyrics and editing. I hope that the five songs of "FRAGMENTS" can help music fans pick up the scattered pieces of life puzzles and rediscover their complete selves in the current hesitant situation.
