Since March 2020 , due to the impact of the global epidemic, everything in the music industry has come to a standstill. During the lockdown of cities and countries, people have experienced difficult moods and feelings of uneasiness. Recording Bach's unaccompanied violin suites and sonatas has been a long-standing dream of Augustin Hadelich . He said that the epidemic has created an excellent opportunity to explore Bach's great work and record it. He hopes that this recording will provide music fans with endless enjoyment and experience, just like he himself has experienced.
Hadelich believes that Bach's unaccompanied violin suites and sonatas are not only a powerful challenge to the performer's technical display and patience, but also a test of musical imagination and expressiveness. And it always provides new challenges, hope, and joy to the interpreter. For Hadelich’s interpretation, he used a Baroque violin bow because of his emphasis on recreating the period. He said: “It was a revelation to me. I felt free when playing with it… I could move faster in the dance passages, and more freely sing in the slow passages.”
