" Circus " is the sixth studio album by American pop singer Britney Spears. It was released on December 2, 2008, her birthday. Britney's previous co-producers included Max Martin, Bloodshy & Avant, Guy Sigsworth and Danja, and new partners included Dr. Luke, Benny Blanco and Claude Kelly.

They created a new album for Britney that is mainly based on pop and dance music. This album was praised by music critics as Britney's comeback. The lead single "Womanizer" entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 96 upon its release and remained at number one in its second week, becoming her best-selling single since her debut single "...Baby One More Time" (1998).

Later, the theme single "Circus" also entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number three, making this album the first album since " ...Baby One More Time " (1999 ) to have two top ten singles. This album once again became a global best-seller. Upon its release, it topped the Billboard 200 Albums chart, sold over 500,000 copies in the first week, and soon achieved RIAA platinum sales.

As of September 2009, its global sales have reached four million records. The lead single "Womanizer" was nominated for Best Dance Song at the 52nd Grammy Awards.
