"Async" is the 19th solo studio album of the famous Japanese musician Ryuichi Sakamoto, released in 2017 after an absence of eight years. After recovering from his illness, he thought this might be his last album. Experiencing cancer, facing death and the threat of nature (the earthquake and tsunami in Japan in 2011), this album contains a variety of music and sounds, such as unusual performances of traditional instruments, untuned piano performances, readings by David Sylvian and Paul Bowles, live recordings of major cities such as New York and Tokyo, etc.

From order to returning to nature, returning to the disorder of nature. This album fully reflects his reflection on music and life.
