Bullet Train is an American action comedy film released last year, directed by David Leitch and adapted from Maria Beetle's 2010 novel of the same name. It stars Brad Pitt, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada, Michael Shannon and Sandra Bullock.
The film's original soundtrack was composed by British composer Dominic Lewis. He spent a year completing the score during the pandemic. In addition to the performance by a 70-piece big band, he used a number of Japanese music and Japanese (adapted from Western songs) songs to suit the needs of the plot; for example, Avu-Chan (the lead singer of Queen Bee) covered The Bee Gees' classic "Stayin' Alive" (which appeared in the movie and its trailer) and Miki Akasura covered Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out for a Hero". Also, Japanese pop songs from the 1960s such as Kyu Sakamoto's "Sukiyaki" and Carmen Maki's "Tokiniwa Haha No Naiko No Youni". Music critics gave positive reviews to the score, considering it an integral part of the film.
